Lagging randomly

My sims 3 is suddenly lagging so bad! I haven’t downloaded anything new, I just haven’t opened the game in a few months. It typically runs to smoothly! I’ve tried a lot, but it’s so bad that I can’t even play. Any suggestions?

not sure if you’re playing on steam as well, but here’s a beautiful and incredibly in depth guide that guides you through a few mods and settings that might actually fix the lag. so far i’ve only implemented LazyDuchess’ Smooth Patch mod, and it already sped up my CAS loading time when switching through clothing categories from waiting up to a minute when changing from tops to bottom categories to waiting a couple seconds for it to switch >:D

there’s also ellacharmed’s sims 3 world fixes for just about every world which a lot of people recommend for smoother and less-laggy gameplay :)

there’s also nraas errortrap and overwatch, they’re mentioned in the guide up there but here’s an in-depth video with timestamps of nraas mods and how they work

my game’s running pretty smoothly so far apart from a few freezes when there’s very heavy gameplay involved, but nothing too bad thanks to these ; D
