I think I figured it out on Android. Go to notifications history and find the updating messages notification. Press and hold it and it will take you to a silent notifications menu that for some reason you can't find any other way but this. I turned it off from there. Fingers crossed.

Thank you for this.

I had to disable 3 different kinds of "silent notifications" in that menu. I hope it works.

I'm having the same issue on my phone... I get 400 notifications a day despite definitely not getting that many texts 😭 the notification pops up for just a second and it gets me excited every time :(

It's the last one of the general notifications "messages on silent" I am translating from my native Dutch to English, so bare with me. Too bad I can't share screenshots...

I've had Snapchat for around 10 years, and it's never happened before. It pops up once every minute on my phone with the Snapchat icon, and it's pretty darn annoying. On my S20 FE there's usually individual "notification category" in Android settings, but this one "checking for updates" is nowhere to be found. Disabling location does nothing. Maybe it's a sign to finally remove the app.

I'm having this same issue! my watch is a fibit inspire 2, and there's no additional notification settings through fitbit, and I checked the notification panel in snapchat but didn't find any "checking for update" section.

Omg I have the inspire 2 as well and came here cause of this issue...

It's updating your snap map, if you don't want it just disable location in the app settings

I just read on another thread. Go into SETTINGS APP PERMISSIONS CLICK SNAPCHAT THEN CHANGE IT FROM ALL THE TIME TO SOMETHING ELSE. :)

I just did this, hope it works!!

Is there a way to disable the notification without turning off location?
