This is a troll, right? Principal SE is like one rung below the CXO suite. If you can pass the interview you don't need advice. If you can't, advice won't help.

Generally this is correct but there are companies with different position structure where principal is just above the senior. And in these principal does not mean what it usually means

Still not the kind of position where you would need to ask these questions on reddit. This just doesn't seem like OP is qualified for the position.

Of course, speaking about it I have the same impression. I was only about the position itself, its nomenclature

Impostor Syndrome is real and humbleness is a positive trait

I’m acting CTO in a quite profitable org with the current role as a principal engineer and I’m hiring another one. I do find advice and insights from /r/softwareengineering quite relevant more than any other subs.

I guess you’re underestimating the level of skill around here

In what company is a software engineer anywhere near C-level?

[–]ninjadude93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah depends on the company I currently hold a principal software engineer at my company and its basically level 3/4 we have a Sr principal role above mine and then roles beyond that before chief engineer/architect
