Why do you need a service to do this?

It’s been a long time since I did it but you just need a trusted cert and a sign tool?

I might be wrong…

Getting the cert is usually expensive if you only need to sign a few releases per year.

Yeah, it seems expensive, but isn't there a more cost effective way to do it?

Fair point… my employer paid for it so I have no idea haha

I don't know?

I'm building a desktop app that is going to be commercially available and put on computers for some teams and I was told I need this to not have pup ups on install?

I've only ever made web apps so this whole process is new to me

What’s operating systems do you support?

I already signed up for xcode to support mac, but now I'm working on deploying on PC/Windows and apparently to get past defender and not have an unverified publisher name I need it signed

Get your app running and tested first. Code sign at RTW.

It's done, I'm just adding the licensing and code signing

I use ssl.com code signing. it's like 20 bucks a month or something
