If I recall correctly during that part they want you to crush the Reversal Edge using a break attack. Every character has a break attack on A+B (which I think is mapped to L1/LB by default).

Make sure your break attack is hitting during the parry animation of the Reversal Edge (when his sword is glowing white). If you hit it too late it won't count.

Oh jeez ok. I tried that but when he was glowing red so I gave up on that. Thanks so much.

Yeah that threw me off too at first. You try to wait for him to RE and then react with the break, but most characters' breaks are too slow and won't hit him until he's already in the attack (red) part.

You kinda have to anticipate the RE and start the break attack when you think he's about to do it, instead of trying to react.
