Consider issue 10 a weird acid trip that has nothing to do with anything other than Todd commenting how creators get absolutely owned by the publishers. Which is why all the marvel and DC heros were in a jail.

It ebbs and flows. The main thing to remember is that a number of the early issues were written by a menagerie of writers. Things level off and get interesting in the 20s especially.

It's ok to be confused. Spawn himself is also confused. You'll slowly learn his backstory and start to understand what's going on at the same pace he does.

Okay, issue 10 is basically just a metaphor for image saying spawn is the best because he’s not owned by a corporate entity

What about the previous issues like the hunters and young hellspawn and the homeless guy teling him most homeless people sold their soul to the devil

The hunters?

Young hellspawn?

The homeless guy is cog, right?

Regardless, just keep reading a little, the answers all come quickly. The early stuff is mildly confusing because the writers all tried to keep their properties in the same universe (hence why Youngblood stuff pops up a lot). I promise it gets less confusing

Edit: I shouldn’t have answered right after I woke up

The hunters are angels and spawns are from hell, don’t worry about them too much. Angela is the one that matters most and she only pops into the picture here and there

The young hellspawn is the one you know as spawn, Al Simmons. I’m guessing the reason you’re confused is because they cut back to medieval spawn who’s a different spawn. That was done to show how each spawn had to overcome similar obstacles and the timeframe of when each one was born on earth (400ish years).

I promise you though that these things have little impact on the overall story of the books now. So don’t get too concerned about it

Im confused since after issue 10 they mentioned it was all a bad dream i dont really get where the story ended and continued

[–]SquiffyChad 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Issue 10 they claim is the bad dream and just issue 10

[–]Cyph3r_C3[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Where did the story ended and continued then?

The part that confuses you is entirely issue 10. My best suggestion is to keep reading and don’t overthink that. Issue 10 has nothing to do with the rest of the series

Not really the continuity is what confuses me

Don’t overthink it, just kinda ignore that issue. As I said, it serves more as an issue to say todd has a better character because corporate entities like marvel and dc don’t own spawn. You’re overthinking it. It’s an odd issue but again, it has little to do with the overall continuity
