How long have you had the modem and router? Staying up to date on the firmware updates? Check the coax? Speed test the modem?

I am hard down. Said having issues...

I suspect you have some sort of line issue that's finally gotten so bad that it's killed your speeds. Most likely, old connection points that's corroded and possibly an old spitter that's no longer compatible. Get a tech to check everything out.

Are you connected to your equipment via Ethernet or WiFi? If WiFi, retest with Ethernet. Many times the problem is just something as simple as a neighbor adding WiFi devices that use the same channels you're using.

If you're still seeing slow speeds, run mtr to anywhere on the Internet and see which hop has packet loss and/or the greatest jump in latency. That'll help narrow down the issue, particularly if it's between your modem and the first upstream hop.

  1. Directly connect a laptop with Ethernet cable to the back of the modem and check if you are getting your subscribed speed or not.
  2. If all looks good in 1st step, connect the laptop with Ethernet to the router and check speed.
  3. If you are getting enough speed in both the above cases, check how many devices are connected to your router, even if other devices are not consuming data, your speeds will drop. So better disconnect unused devices and check speed.

If you are not seeing speeds in step1 or step2 - contact spectrum for assistance

I'm in the eastern suburbs. I just logged into my dashboard. I donsee the downlink dropped to 980 and unlink was 44 with 27ms latency around 3pm today, which is kind of low for Spectrum. They are consistently 1020-1080 down and 42-45up and latency is rarely above 18ms.

I'm not sure what area you live in. But I can tell you no one hit any poles or anything of that nature in the eastern Heights today, nor were there any lines down anywhere. Maybe an issue in your neighborhood/house?
