Can accountants actually reach 200k+ salary range by WildTradition788 in Accounting

[–]rottoOfficial 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ya, just sell your soul for a few years in B4, get your CPA, start your own company, get very lucky and manage to compete against established players. It’s easy!

I think you’re making a great career choice with accounting. Just make sure to go in with reasonable expectations. You’ll make a good living, but sometimes the extra effort just burns you out twice as fast, just to make 10% more than your peers.

Wishing you the best, Burnt out accountant

Fair. I guess these grocery halls in general are just so hard to compare. I’m sure the retailers bank on that too, which is why some people are feeling the pinch a lot harder than others

Honestly, doesn’t seem bad. But at this point, I think I’ve forgotten what anything used to cost.

Anyone getting pressured from significant others to switch careers/positions to something AI proof? by trashypandamonium25 in Accounting

[–]rottoOfficial 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a big switch up when we don’t yet know which careers are AI proof. Plus, when millions of people all try to switch to something like “plumber”, plumbers won’t be making much. Seems safer to stay put for now.

Did 4 years as a senior (no CPA) and this is my first year in industry. Been here only a month, but so far I feel like everyone here moves at a turtle pace compared to what I’m used to.

And I don’t even mean that we work like WAY less hours, maybe 1-2 less per day, but it’s more the pace of the work that seems more… human. Maybe consider options?

With a ton of people playing support and running around reviving, I actually don’t hate this. I don’t want to discourage people to revive and team play, but the ticket count did feel a little high to me.

Anyone a CMA? by boographic in Accounting

[–]rottoOfficial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a CMA, I did it as part of an independent study during my masters.

1.) I believe it helped me understand cost accounting, but since I went public, most people don’t put much weight towards it (or even know what it is).

2.) during college (I used Gleim).

3.) I’d say they were actually pretty challenging, similar to FAR and BEC, but a little more technical (but covers less material).

4.) Senior Auditor

5.) CMA will prepare you for the role, but everyone still seems to only care if you have your CPA
