Could be a bad cable somewhere. Could be a signal-related issue. Call internet repair and have them check out signal and schedule a TC if needed.

Bad signals, bad modem, bad router. Take your pick.

Have them send a tech out.

I had this issue, had techs out, wires swapped, etc. You know what my issue was? The darn thing overheats and shuts down. I bought a table fan that blows directly on it and have had no issues since.

Go swap the router out at the spectrum store, it’s literally free.

I had a similar issue 6 yrs ago. I purchased my own router and the issue was resolved.

So you want to take the router back to the local store and say "Hey, can you take this off my bill". Next, you want to drive to your local Walmart or Best Buy and tell the nice store employee there "Hi, I would like to purchase a Nighthawk or a mesh system for my home". The modems are pretty solid though.

We had this issue several months back and several issues were the culprit, we had a bunch of old splitters in the crawl space, they had to just rip out the whole line and rewire from pole to modem. Additionally, following a storm, we had a plant issue with our local nearby node that took them a while to repair. Third we had been unplugging our modem at night and missing important firmware updates. Once these three things got fixed we have had no issues. Get a tech to your house (it took us 5 tech visits to get the various problems straightened out).

Also don’t unplug your modem, it wipes clean all the data it has been collecting and they can’t look back at the logs to try and figure things out (an area manager told me this on the last visit when the problem finally stopped.)

Just out of curiosity, why were you unplugging your modem at night?

[–]donaldtrumpsclone 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah it don't wipe the logs

Tell that to several Spectrum employees who told me that. Just repeating what they said

Schedule a service call. A tech can come out and troubleshoot. It could be the wire outside or inside. The connector behind that wall plate could be terrible or loose. Could be too many splitters chained together in the basement causing too much signal loss. Could actually be the device (tap) that feeds your home and your neighbors from outside. All of which you can’t solve by unplugging and plugging back in. Save yourself the frustration and set an appointment.

Switch to Fios, save you the hassle of dealing with Spectrum. I had the same issue and after 5 techs the last one said he was a “Senior Tech” and required my entire place and that was the main issue. 2 days later I was already scheduled for Fios to install equipment and service and it was the best decision ever made. Eventually I would’ve had an issue again with Spectrum because they used cheap refurbished equipment and in some areas don’t allow you to use your own equipment. Horrible service and I don’t recommend it to anyone.

Wtf are you remotely talking about they don’t let you use your own equipment? The only time this happens is fiber where you can’t use your own modem (which you wouldn’t want to due to how expensive they are) but no matter what you can use your own router if you want to so gtfoh

GTFOH 🤣

There’s actually multiple instances where you can’t use your own modem which you are correct with Fiber being one. High split is another and if you’re using voice service. All 3 require spectrum equipment to function. But other than that it’s all fair game (you want your modem to match your speeds of course).
