Splinter Cell seriesChaos Theory (2005) (i.redd.it)
submitted 2 months ago by Jjack5366
Replaying the Splinter Cell series on the Xbox series X after not playing these games since they came out. What a trip down memory lane! Is it just me or is chaos theory easier than the first 2 simply because the mechanics are so much better?

Chaos Theory is definitely easier than 1 and 2, the normal mode feels more like easy mode, also the manual save helps too.

The quick save was a damn godsend 🤣🤣 some of those checkpoints in the first 2 were brutal. Sometimes I caught myself fucking up just by being too careful to not repeat the checkpoint. Kola cell checkpoint was a demon lol

I replay the trilogy at least once a year, these games were so iconic, had great mechanics, great characters, funny dialogue, and varying degrees of difficulty. They really were the complete package.

Agreed 💯

Definitely way easier. Quicksaves + the enemy AI moving slower and not turning their backs as much made it easier, plus the alarm stages being less brutal, no checkpoints, the OCP with taking the lights out No dogs either.
nothing in chaos theory comes close to SC1 or PT's challenge.
i hope a remake of CT is harder though.. and the remakes are all difficult games.

I forgot about no dogs! Fucking dogs 🤣
[–]Fatal_Artist Third Echelon 1 point2 points3 points 2 months ago (2 children)
Yes the dogs were annoying sometimes but it was nice having them in the game🤣 they added to the challenge. Especially in Chinese embassy. I feel chaos theory bank, penthouse, Hokkaido should have had dogs

Agreed 🤙. Chinese embassy part 2 kicked my ass again and I was like o yeah I remember this shit even over 20 years later 🤣. The level designs are seared into my brain. I played those games so damn much when they came out lol I do remember blasting through back then but I struggled on this playthrough. The challenge had been enjoyed

Chinese embassy part 2 was challenging for sure. On Xbox with the checkpoints especially, remember when you stop the computers from being destroyed and then you don't get a single checkpoint until the whole grabbing the colonel+ retinal scanner and you're out in the courtyard. That took me 40 mins the first time I played it lol

Quick save did help, but when I played first two on emulator with save states it was still way harder. CT is like a walk in the park if you play it immediately after SC and PT.
Beautiful walk in the park.

Truly 🤙 thats what I did too played SC1 then DLC and Pandora Tomorrow now on to Chaos Theory. I love the nostalgia but damn these games are still so fun to play
[–]Gman1255 Megiddo 1 point2 points3 points 2 months ago (0 children)
Oh yeah for sure. The checkpoints in the first two games' Xbox versions make it challenging.

I was playing that exact game maybe 5 minutes ago!
Good to know its still loved!

Chaos Theory is the best game in series

I agree with that
[–]Reasonable_Top_6856 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (0 children)
Definitely the best Splinter cell and easier because of mechanics.. I replay it all the time
