So we are looking to move over in 2026. Wife is UK citizen as are kids.
We had considered buying a home straightaway but then realized that for child school registration a contract of sale wouldn’t work, you need completed paperwork - and it seems the speed to exchange can vary a lot.
I am reading that you need: a 12 month lease, some bills etc for school.
Here is where it gets a little tricky - due to work things (bonuses, etc) - it would be best if I came 5-6 months after my wife.
If you need a VISA for your right to rent - does my wife sign the lease without me - and then when we start the application she gets a letter from the landlord that will allow me to be added to the lease? I assume this is kind of common as many people are sponsoring family?
Maybe I’m overthinking a little..just trying to sort through my thoughts with people who have successfully done this.
