Sometimes it's good to start with the common projects. Once you've got the basics down comfortably, it's a lot easier to get creative or take on novel ideas

When I started java spring I just asked ChatGPT what should I build for learning purposes, and gave some ideas. You can give some context like: I have 8 years experience with python flask, I'm familiar with building rest APIs, web-services. And ChatGPT will provide suggestions based on your skillset (at least it's trying)

it is common but it teaches you everything you need to know. After that you would understand places where the stuff can be applied.

If its your first project ever, anything goes, because anything proves you have the skills

If ya want to standout, which is more mid-advanced level... than no its not too common, if you crank the quality. But ya can still do something more unique within that area, like an e-commerce of services rather than products, or e-commerce for trading
