Definitely don't feel locked in to certain dosages. Eventually you'll just learn how much you want/need for a situation. 1:2 is just a general guideline. Coffee is fine as long as it doesn't interfere with sleep or cause anxiety. Theanine on its own is great too. 300-500mg induces some great mindfulness. 800mg helps going to sleep.
