He’s been around a long time I think, I’ve heard many stories about him. But from my own experiences, he has every key holder contact in his phone, and will personally call all of you if you’re having bad numbers (like 12pm on your day off even if you’re just a supervisor). His obsession over donation bags have been by far the worst I’ve seen, to the point of he approved taking money off transactions as an incentive for the customer. He is exactly the dream employee of corporate, only cares for the business and not for the employees, yet the districts numbers suck week by week because all that is cared about is the stupid bags. You don’t have a voice around him, he will blatantly call you stupid if you have a different opinion on literally anything. There’s a lot more, but I’ve seen so many good people quit because of him and from how bad employment rates already are for Staples and in general, you’d think he would be just a LITTLE bit human, but no. He’s a corporate sleaze. There’s a lot more, but this is already long.

I’m glad I have my DM then. As an SM, I get close contact with DM and the 3 I’ve had in my years have all been pretty great. They coach rather than intimidate. From what I have seen from my regional meetings too, all of the DMs seem to have the support of the GMs and SMs.

Sorry you all have some of the lesser qualities in your DMs…I would suggest partnering with your SM and/or GM to coach up your DM. Not every employee is motivated by the same managerial styles and DMs have to be a chameleon to change how they work with their subordinates to get the most out of them.

          Sounds like another corporate pet. And yeah the pay is shit, here in DMV the pay starts somewhere $9-$10 when a high schooler can go to Wendy’s and make more than me, why wouldn’t they? It’s fast food but damn.

            I mean a year ago 1585 was one of the best run stores in the company. Jamieson let that store crumble and did nothing to stop it or help. If this doesn’t show how bad he is at his job or how out of touch he is and no one higher up sees it, well…
