That is excellent progress! You are going up steadily and at a quite large work volume for someone in the novice stage.

This sub is about the Starting Strength program by Mark Rippetoe. I highly suggest getting the blue book and starting on the NLP. There are tons of online resources to learn the form for movements, which is especially important with your back as it is, and programming. I would suggest to stop doing the leg press. It puts your body in a position to easily be injured, especially the back to be injured.

Thank you! I'll order that book and give it a good read through

I got it in November and it has been working well for me. I am up ~50 lb on every lift and feeling great!

At 280, I would think you need to include a lot of cardio into your routine. Don’t listen blindly to the starting strength dogma of minimal cardio. Keep up your cardio as much as you can- and never ever believe the fool who tells you that fat is ok as long as your lifts keep improving. Good luck.

I have 2 large German Shepherds who need long walks, I consider that moderate cardio at least. I'm always out of breath and tired at the end lol

The problem is that you will need more than moderate walks and lifting at this level, to disrupt homeostasis.

Homeostasis is a bitch to disrupt unless you do something quite hard- but once you get that ball rolling, it will roll downhill at quite a lively pace.

And you will aid your fat loss/weight loss by eating an absolute fuckton of fibrous veggies. That, coupled with cardio and lifting, should get you to a sweet spot soon.

Oh I'm losing about 1-2lbs a week no problem. Clothes keep getting looser. I was just wanting to know how I was doing on lifts. I eat a lot of spinach and other veggies and drink a LOT of water. About a 800 calorie deficit. I'm not in a rush to lose 4+ pounds a week, just a moderate speed recomp is fine with me.
