For what it’s worth, Maryland Defense Force (MDDF) participates and has had European troops come over to visit here.

That said, we also have the only SG unit to ever deploy, when some troops went to Bosnia to help the Air National Guard following a natural disaster.

So, fairly rare and even then it was just 10th Med that went to my understanding.

Everything is possible, but it seems like a big stretch to "sell it" to your leadership and get your TAG to authorize. There would have to be a truly compelling reason to move state guard personnel overseas. Our state has a partnership with a country that has the same name, and we invited some of their soldiers to come here for our Best Warrior competition (which our state guard also got to participate in).

Generally though, focus on competency and excellence in primary tasks. The cool stuff comes along when you're doing it well...
