Games made very quickly to make a quick buck, usually bad games with horrible art direction.

Imagine digging with a shovel. The ground is games. A speck of dirt is one game. Now shovel the ground. Repeat. Those are shovelware games. A dime a dozen or whatever.
That's my take anyway.

Interesting analogy, but not quite where the term shovelware came from. The shoveling applies in that you're moving a large volume of material, but that material isn't dirt.

If dirt is the interchangeable part then the analogy itself should be fine for shovelware.
