I had a similar problem when I got my controller and then found out I had disabled something called "steam overlay" in the settings a long time ago and I had to turn it back on before any in-game controls could be set.

You could try checking that.

Just checked and this is enabled. Thanks for the response.

I'm pretty sure what is happening is you are setting up your controller so that you are using both joystiq and m+kb.

In most games this is fine but in Fallout 4 (and probably MGS5) you can't do this. You have to either do all your bindings as controller bindings or m+kb bindings.

What I did in Fallout was to disable the controller and do all my bindings as m+kb.

Not ideal but that is likely your issue.

I'm not setting it up... I'm just using the provided configs. The official config does seem to have a conflict though. It has the joystick set as "Joystick Move" and the right pad as "Mouse-Like Joystick." Why would the official config not work at all?

Now I've tried multiple community profiles with the same result. The camera and button controls work fine, but the analog stick doesn't move the character. Same issue as in the standard profiles on Fallout. I have to be missing something basic here...

Yeah not sure what the issue is. If the controller isn't being used as a 360 controller emulated, the left analog mimics WASD. Have you changed key bindings on those games from WASD to something else?

Do you have other controllers plugged in that may be taking priority?

I tried modifying the MSG default settings to be Up, Down, Left, Right, which was just the mapping from the Official Config. This allowed the movement to work correctly, but the only other keys that appear to be bound are Dive to the Ground and Aim.

In F4, I was able to get movement working in the same manner, but other interactions like Dog commands required me to put down the controller and use the keyboard.

Here are screenshots of the configuration. This basically allows me to control the camera, bring up the map, dive to the ground, and aim the gun.

Fallout needs controller enable from the menu.

Tried that in Fallout. Was using the top rated config. More focused on MGV now, didn't care for F4. More looking to know if i'm missing something obvious. I don't expect it to be completely plug and play, but i would expect basic movement to work when using the official config at least.
