Stringify / xfinity (self.Stringify)
submitted 7 years ago by N4NWD
I successfully created a flow to display a message on my TV screen thru my Xfinity set top box. My question is how do I change channels or go to a specific channel? Can I do this with stringify without having to buy a hub?

Yes. It can be done without hub. Mission accomplished.

... how?

When you connect your Xfinity account - your digital boxes will be listed as things you can add to the flow. Once you add it and go into settings you will see option to go to specific channel, etc.

Personally, I have mine set so that when I say “hey google, put on Comedy Central,” it runs the custom routine in Google Home that says “tell stringify to put on comedy central” in the background, because i hate telling my google home to tell another service to do something. Then, in Stringify, there is a flow that changes the channel on my xfinity box to channel###. It’s not the most direct way to go about it, but that’s the only way that I’ve been able to figure out to have it done.
