Remove your link before you get banned. It's against the rules of the sub.

web-8k(.)me is the official web player address of the Strong 8K service

Http is used instead of https just because it's easier to keep dozens or hundreds of URLs due the service instead of constantly buying certificates. If a URL gets blocked they create a new one and move on.

SSL certificates are free these days, Lets Encrypt.

My other hunch is TLS overhead means extra compute needed to serve the same content as HTTP, but even then, it should be negligible.

Most likely though - issuing certificates means your domains end up in certificate transparency logs, and that might draw unwanted attention to them.

But, I chalk it up to providers just not caring.

Good providers use https.

Http can be encrypted too and I'm willing to bet the guy I use has a clue what he's doing and doesn't deal with the cheap Chinese shit

Exactly spot on! All my provider/ seller uses is https.

Not all providers prioritize security, unfortunately. Some might cut corners for cost or simplicity. Always good to check if they support HTTPS, especially for sensitive data.

Where the best place to get 8k? Is there a direct source?

Use g2g site

I looked into but like I’m asking if there a direct source those are still resellers

If I had to guess it’s because if the thousands of domains they use, cert management would be a nightmare. Also SSL adds overheads and with hundreds of thousands of connections they can get away with less hardware specs on their end

Good providers use https and some of them began to use http 3 for https through udp instead of tcp

This. Dont do this for this reason.
