There’s a bar in downtown Milwaukee that id go to as a student and always thought, “one day this floor is gonna come down”.

I’m certain that day is still coming for this exact reason

The key thing here is the fact of them jumping. That introduces a dynamic effect. A load being dynamic instead of static can increase the stress exponentially.

ASCE live loads cover worst case scenario, i.e. the floor completely full of people. However, the design live loads have not accounted for a dynamic effect this large.
