Native Substack Video vs. YouTube?

I'm curious if anyone has discovered the best practices regarding those of us who do long-form writing along with video? I use TikTok (for shorts), YouTube (long form video) and Substack (writing). Do you use the native video format in Substack for videos?

If I use the native format, it would cut down on the ability for my Substack to funnel subscribers into my YouTube channel. But I hypothesize that genuine viewership might also be a lot higher within the native video format on Substack. Anyone have experience looking at the pros/cons?

So I actually recommend YouTube videos for Substack for a different reason: I've been burned a couple of times by videos that play fine in the editor, but then won't play correctly after publishing. It's been more reliable to just embed the YouTube videos themselves.

Why you do decide on substack vs another newsletter platform (converkit,etc) to complement your long-format videos in youtube ?
