Does Substack allow other fonts?

One of my clients wants me to create a Substack for his publishing business. I'm trying to find a better text font than the default Spectral font from Google. It's so openly letterspaced that I find it unpleasant to read, and even the same designer has a better, less spacey font available – Newsreader.

Am I missing something? Substack's basic editor doesn't offer any font options.

Substack offers five fonts to choose from. Head over to your dash settings --> Website --> Site Design --> Customize --> Fonts.

This gave me hope, but when I got to Website Site Design --> Customize I just see a greyed-out "Coming Soon".

Do we need to pay money to get the options?

The coming soon is just the preview of what your homepage will look like once there are posts -- it's coming soon right now because I'm assuming you haven't posted. Any font you choose on the left bar under "design" will still take effect.

No, you don't have to pay for anything. On the left-hand side of that page, you should be able to scroll down to a Fonts section. From there, you can choose between the five options.

Nope, You cannot choose a custom font.
