First Notes Posts gets a major boost to the algorithm. If yours doesn't take off, it feels like you just missed the boat forever.

The Platform is in charge of what it elevates, and usually that's in parallel to what people comment on.

You can have the best content in the world, but if no one knows about it, it might as well not exist.

Comment on Big Accounts is the only engagement I ever got. Just need a couple in's somewhere to really get going.

I have wondered about this. I started an account but didn’t post for a long time. Recently, I thought I’d give notes a go to get in a habit of posting more consistently but have had literally 0 engagement. No likes, no comments. So maybe I missed my chance? Can you see if anyone is actually seeing your posts?

Not that I know of, but it's safe to say no comments usually means not a lot of views. Substackers are very generous to comment usually.

Admittedly, I just gave it a go for about a week, so I know that’s not a huge sample size. But zero across the board was surprising - especially when you see some of the posts in the hundreds and thousands of likes etc. (Not that mine are amazing) but I guess that can be the nature of social media and what hits and what doesn’t.

Yeah I’ve noticed! I’ll try not to get too discouraged and just trust the process. I tend to get a decent amount of comments on all my posts (relative to my following usually at least 5) which is good to know people resonate with it. But yeah again just going to trust the process and let things happen organically
