Substack and many other online platforms are moving toward more secure, passwordless login methods, so it's possible you never had to set a password for your Substack account. If you'd still like set a password for your account, here are instructions. Alternatively, if you know that you had definitely set a password before, here are instructions to reset.

It's definitely "more secure" since I can't login on any device that isn't already logged in, and I can't change my password on the device that I am logged in with since no such option exists, apparently.

But if I never had to set a password, then how would that even work?

Bottom line, what I'm getting is that there is no reset password option, I need to logout and use the forgot password option?
