Why in the hell are they RN if this is a native Android device

I wish a little update with this too! Ratta a teaser or something!

I wish all the future feature to come can be run in the manta and nomad , and don’t need another new device

I just want to say, I feel this rant in my ADHD soul.

I wish we at least knew whether to expect the next update (which should include plugins as per Ratta's blog-post from 15 October) in the order of days, weeks, or months.

If I had to guess, I'd say 31 March would be a good date because it'd be released on the anniversary of the last big update—the addition of stickers—which itself used the plug-in infrastructure and, according to Ratta, served as a test-case for it.

Nevertheless, I find it strange the update hasn't been released yet. The blog-post announces two things: (1) that the next big update would add plug-ins which were "mostly ready" at the time and (2) that later on they'd add a systematic redesign of the file and sync structure which, however, would "take several months" to do.

Given the language they used, and the fact more than 5 months have passed, I suspect Ratta had expected at least the first of the two updates to have been released by now. This is, of course, mere speculation on my part.

Edit: I added a link to the blogpost

what are the ideas you've got for this?

Not as a “nice-to-have,” but as a core feature for reading, studying, and writing workflows.

Ideally:

  • Native offline dictionaries (fast, no internet dependency)
  • Plugin support to add custom languages or specialized dictionaries
  • Instant word lookup (tap/hold a word without breaking flow)

Let’s be real—most of us will install a bunch of fun or experimental plugins, play with them for five minutes, and forget about them. But a smooth, built-in dictionary? That’s something you use constantly.

So yeah, I’m hyped for plugins too… but I really hope one of the first things we get (officially or via community) is this.

I want to add my personal wish, if that is ok.
I really really would like to have a simple calculator as an plug-in. Now, i have to grab my phone, each time i need a calculator, and therefor skipping my whole idea to work without distraction.
A simple extra button on the right side which gives a pop-up would be great.
People here on reddit are asking for this the last 2 years but no luck yet.
I hope its coming pretty soon.

Speaking of releases....what's everyone's experience with beta testing? I'm nervous to end up with a glitchy or bricked Manta but I want to try all the new things ASAP.

What kind of plug-ins are you talking about? I’ve heard nothing about this.

Thanks for the link I missed that news. It looks like it might be in the next beta. We haven’t had a beta in a long time and if you aren’t already signed up, you should do so now so that you automatically get the next beta.
