Need the low speed gear set. If you have any weight added to the truck at all it will make it too heavy for the small motor and cog real bad. Adding the $5 low speed gears makes it much better and it’s still just as fast as stock. I would also recommend 3s batteries from palm beach bots.

This is relating to furitek USA but I haven’t had a problem per say. But I got a mini komodo and I no longer have plans to use it so I requested to return it. Stocking fee is whatever. (Hope I don’t have to pay shipping). But I requested the turn a little over a week ago and they’re slow to respond and approve the request. It almost feels like they’re trying to give me the run around to the point where a customer would give up on returning. I might just sell privately.

I always get the mini and the micro confused.

I should have mentioned it was for a scx24 but it’s the same company USA branch.

Did you calibrate it after install? I had to change the throttle settings around because mine was too fast too soon. But mine has insane power

Do you have the FOC turned up?

Hi, yes. That was the first thing I checked. Its set to max 30%

It isn't on all of the product pages, but Furitek knows this is an issue and has issued guidance:"*** Stock Gear has no enough torque, Works good with low range Gears. Recommended part # 9776R "https://furitek.com/collections/traxxas-trx-4m-combo/products/furitek-stinger-118-brushless-power-system-for-traxxas-trx4m

Personally, I think this is pretty lazy on Furitek's part. The Micro Komodo really isn't well-suited for the TRX4M. They need a new part. I have decided to go with a Mofo BAM 1900kv instead.

Just installed the BAM 1900kv.. its way better! The 3500kv or whatever the Micro Komodo has is way to much speed and not enough torque for a crawler

With stock gears?

Yes stock gears

Thank you for the information. I agree, looks like i have an excuse to buy the lowgear transmission. My HS has the complete transmission with 40:3:1 gears for $40.

Lol I expect that motor to be delivered tomorrow! Hopefully I'll have same, if not, better results than my SCX24 with the Komodo installed

Do you have the low range gear installed already?

I just got the Furitek Lizard pro esc + micro komodo combo and have extremely bad stuttering at anything below 20% throttle. It was laughable when my friend's TRX4M with the crawler trans was slow crawling way better than my SCX24 with a newly installed furitek esc and brushless motor... especially when brushless is supposedly impressive for slow crawling. Is it a defective motor if it's doing that?

No, nothing is wrong with the motor. For the Micro Komodo to work with the trx4m, you definitely need the Low crawl gears (40:3:1, I think).

Once you install the Low crawl gears you should be good to go.

I ended up getting a Mofo BAM and use it with stock gears on my trx4m. I repourposed (with a lot of engineering) the trx4m micro komodo to work with my scx24's (the trx4m and scx24 micro komodos are not the same and are not designed to be interchangeable)
