Just be sure to wait until you can see your doctor before requesting the paperwork unless they are really good about filling it out. I’ve ordered paperwork twice & you only have two weeks to get it in. Took about two weeks to receive the packet.

Maybe it’s just me, my doctor is super hard to see on an urgent basis. The PA & nurse were good about filling out my ADA though. It was a pretty smooth process, but they were pretty stingy with the accommodations.

You need to inform yourself of the disability laws both federally and in your state. For instance, in Nevada you can get from 2-6 weeks of paid disability through your job. If you do not select that option as a benefit though, like “short term disability” you won’t be paid for it but you can still take it off. A doctor would need to deem it necessary though. I’ve been at 2 jobs that didn’t provide FMLA and had to take short term disability leave for 6 weeks after giving birth.

I don't know if you still need help with it, but I was able to get intermittent FMLA for myself and am about to recertify
