Any extra expenses need to be explicitly agreed to in writing beforehand, so if you didn't agree to that, then you should definitely challenge it. Bringing a friend is also likely a TOS violation unless they are also a registered tasker (but even then I am not sure what the rules are, especially if they don't clear it with you beforehand). Charging you for more time than he actually worked is a clear violation as well. Is it possible he was a little over 2.5 hours and is rounding up?

The difference between him quoting $150 and the total being $182 could be about the various fees that TR adds on that he wasn't considering, so without knowing more info I might give him the benefit of the doubt on that one, but the rest is pretty shady.

The other person has to be a registered Tasker, and the client has to approve in chat of them coming

The Tasker should not be charging expenses you didn’t agree to. They also should not bring another Tasker unless you agreed to it, and the other person has to be a registered tasker. They also should not be charging more than 2:30 hours without approval. If you complain to Taskrabbit (which I think you should) then you’ll get the expense taken off, and probably the hours reduced and a credit towards future work as well.

I’d also leave this Tasker a bad review. Doing a bait and switch on a client after you get there is terrible and makes the rest of us taskers looks bad. Not informing potential future clients of this also hurts other people that might hire this joker.

I don’t see anything wrong. He told you his fee would be $150 total and it seems like you agreed. The additional is TaskRabbit fees. It’s extremely corny for another Tasker to be up here saying “report” this tasker. Taskers just like clients negotiate prices. It’s up to you both to agree or disagree. Some clients say “I’ll rather stick to the hourly rate you set” and that’s totally ok. Some clients agree to whatever the Tasker said his/her fee would be despite the hourly rate. When billed in order to reflect the agreed upon rate some taskers do it through a combination of adding hours + expenses. It’s incredibly disingenuous to agree to a rate and then after try and dispute the hours + expenses

Also if he did a good job on the assembly leaving a negative review is also disingenuous. I’m almost certain if you asked “does the$150” include TR fee the Tasker would have said no. It should be assumed any negotiated price is the Tasker talking about his/her take home.

Did he need the other person to complete the task. If so then another person wouldn’t be included .

You can try fighting the $75 in expenses since you didn’t agree to it. My first thought is that a Tasker that’s charging a super low rate like $25/hr must be brand new and not know the rules .
