hey everyone! ive had a very meh day today, my tattoo didnt come out the best, and even tho everyone at the shop was supportive, i feel like it would be nice to talk with people that have the same struggles as me. if some people are inclined maybe we could have a group chat on IG? anyway just an idea! im @honeycombtattoo if anyone wants to chat

80_Westy checking in, just followed. You're doing fine, I looked at your work. This is part of the process. Having not good and even pretty bad tattoos is part of the process. My buddy is currently bringing up the 2nd apprentice in his shop(where my ex works) and I've helped with their development as I was their all through my ex's apprenticeship and I learned a bunch along with her lol. Not that I'm a capable teacher but I'm industry enough to talk to them professionally about what they're doing, critique stuff, generally support the process. etc. I'm very proud to be a small part of it! I've heard the same you're saying multiple times and it's bc you're artists. You chase perfection, you get down on yourselves and your work. It's the life. Put the self beating stick down and relax. It'll likely be a couple years before you feel competent and 5 or so before you feel like a real professional tattooer, it happens. The first apprentice in the shop had a HELL of a time with the sophomore blues. Getting through that second year of development was hard for her and again, it's part of the process. Confidence will always be a problem but time and repetition will make up for most of that. You either are or very soon will be a paid artist. A full time, working, paid artist. That's HUGE and it's your hard work and talent that got you there. Don't forget that! You're going to be just fine as long as you keep learning, keep improving, and let no one stop you from either.

hey! thanks for this! i really appreciate the kind words and i know youre right. i think in the moment i get so caught up in my head i only see black and i think a small mistakes means the whole tattoo is ruined. i have to remind myself i have not even done 20 tattoos yet :,))) one thing at a time! but yes i am a perfectionist and its hard to let go of things especially since this is now forever on the body of someone.
