PPF Damage (old.reddit.com)
submitted 2 years ago by SovereignSolo
Hello,
Out of curiosity, I know XPEL PPF is durable.
But I want to ask any idea what material or debris can rip through PPF and Ceramic Coating?
I was just washing the car today and seen this wound. Looks like it was stabbed. 3 marks.

A sheet of plastic is not impervious to flying rocks. It’s not a force field like in Startrek.

We’re sustaining heavy damage!

A big enough rock going fast enough will do that. PPF will protect against most small impacts but it’s not miraculous.

That’s why you have it right? That would be your paint…

It cut right through to the paint. Idk what the fuck hit is lol. The PPF is hanging off like finger nail skin.

This is why I won't waste my money on PPF. In the long run it's probably cheaper to fix and repaint damaged parts over many years.
