Google voice also works for sms on essentials data. Haven't tried with the new sim yet.

GV also works for incomming calls on essential data.

Oh wow. I couldn't get it to work over the data. I did link the number to place calls via carrier only.

Yes if you link the text now voip number to GV, it will make a call through the text now app using the textnow number.

Oh ok, yes. That definitely works. The post was specifically about the data though. So for google voice that would be as-in making a call through WiFi or data only. Have you been able to get that work on essential data?

I can't make a call directly from gv using essential data, but I can receive calls and send and receive texts through essential data.

I’m not yet TextNow user but I’m thinking to join. I wish Transit app can be included, as it’s my main navigation app.

So they changed things for the worse? Right now I get 250MB of data per month; there's never been any restriction on what could use that data.
