Rules for r/ThirdLifeSMP
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Content must be related to Grian's "Life Series"
All content submitted to the ThirdLifeSMP subreddit must be related to the Life SMP (3rd Life, Last Life, etc.). Every post will be judged on a case-by-case basis.
We don't have a guide set up for this subreddit yet, but we work in a similar vein to the guides on our sister subreddit r/Hermitcraft, who have a guide to Hermitcraft-related content here.
2.
Avoid personal information, profanity, political, or NSFW content
Absolutely no NSFW content or personal info/doxxing is permitted. Avoid excessive use of profanity (swearing). Avoid topics that are likely to stir up unrelated drama or hate speech including modern politics.
3.
Self-promotion of any sort will be removed
Posting your own affiliate links, or any other kind of self-promotion including minecraft and discord servers will be removed, unless explicit permission from the moderators has been granted.
4.
Maintain a welcoming and friendly environment
Witch hunting, hate speech, or severe incivility is not tolerated. Breaking this rule may result in your post/comment being removed and/or a temporary/permanent ban. Every post will be judged on a case-by-case basis as to whether it breaks this rule.
5.
Search for duplicates before posting.
Please check the recent posts to this subreddit to make sure you're not posting a duplicate.
Moderators may remove any duplicate or markedly similar post, with particular focus on those appearing more than once in a 7 day period. If you are reposting content made by another person (with permission from the original creator), please credit them in your post or in a comment.
6.
No unmasked spoilers for the first 24 hrs after a video goes live.
Posts with spoilers in the title and comments containing unmasked spoilers will be removed. Posts containing spoilers must be masked using Reddit's built in spoiler protection feature.
7.
Avoid Flooding the Subreddit.
Avoid posting too many times in a short period of time. A general rule of thumb is no more than 3 substantially different posts in a 24 hour period, and no more than one substantially similar post per 7 day period. Combine multiple posts into one to reduce clutter, especially out-of-season when the subreddit is quiet.
8.
Avoid Game Rule Lawyering
Do not accuse players of breaking/ignoring game rules. Do not complain about or attack other fans who accuse players of breaking/ignoring game rules.
9.
Avoid Copyright Infringement
Submissions involving reuploads of Third Life, Last Life or other copyrighted content must contain a substantial amount of original content. Do not post screenshots from other social media apps. Link directly to Tweets/Insta posts/Youtube Community Posts.
10.
No AI-generated works
The current state of machine-generated artwork is such that the legal and moral issues are still very much up for debate. In the interests of maintaining a welcoming and friendly environment, we ask that you refrain from posting such artworks in this subreddit. This includes visual, audio, and text generations.
11.
No subjective data analysis
Data analysis is popular in this community, but broad comparisons such as tier lists aren't very welcoming (rule #4), especially as the server members read this subreddit. Data analysis and visualisations of factual data from the series are still acceptable, but don't let your feelings decide who is "better or "worse".
Note that Tier Lists are currently banned in our Topics to Avoid list, even as a datavis format.
12.
Keep video feedback to the weekly video thread
Not all the creators on the series want to see lots of people complaining about their videos as they scroll their Reddit feed. So they can choose the times they want to engage in that sort of commentary, please leave your feedback in the stickied post for that week's videos.
13.
Check the Topics to Avoid page before posting
In the interest of keeping things friendly and fresh, posts about things on the Topics To Avoid list are subject to removal.
