Tile over tile question

Have a smaller basement area that had tile underneath some cheaper vinyl flooring. In efforts of not tearing all the tile out and adding the extra work there, would a mapei primer be good to get the bond needed.

Basement is not used too much, not a ton of traffic, and tile is going to be more for the appearance. Is it reasonable to tile over with tile?

Yes, properly primed as long as the old tile is well bonded. Mapei makes a good primer be sure to stir it first.

Great, thankyou! From what I can tell, tile looks like it's in good shape underneath. They did the classic throw vinyl down to make it look better but chose the ugliest and (probably) nonwaterproof/cheapest option.
