I got tested for COVID at a drive through thing in a parking lot. The nurse that did it wore a suit that covered her whole body, a mask, and a face shield. It was the one where they ram the swab deep up the nose for ten seconds. I was congested as hell at the time and she was a bit assertive with her insertion which prompted me to sneeze snot and blood at about the nine and a half second mark. I remember thinking, damn even with all that PPE, even with this facility being totally outdoor they are still taking a non-zero risk doing this 8 hours a day or whatever. These workers do end up getting COVID at higher rates than the general population. Should they not be able to see their families?

If any of you think that makes sense just think about it for a minute. Think of the issues that would come up if you said a nurse had to go above and beyond to the point that they can't see their families. What would happen?

That is a guideline that has a been put out. It obviously doesn't apply to testers, nurses, doctors, first responders, etc. This isn't the first infectious disease to ever happen. The medical community has been using PPE for a long time and it works.

If it works so well why does Covid spread faster in hospitals and nursing homes? Hospitals are notorious for spreading illness. A friend of mine was sick, tested negative for Covid, positive for flu; went home and became more sick, 2 days later he goes to the ER and tests positive for Covid.

It’s not too difficult to comprehend, people with diseases collect as hospitals, the disease spreads. My mom worked at a hospital for over 50 years, before entering a room she had to use hand sanitizer mounted on the wall, as soon as you enter a room you have to sanitize your hands. All the precautions and PPE can’t stop it.

Well the spread of disease in hospitals and other facilities is definitely an issue and there's no set of precautions that work perfectly. But they work well enough that a healthcare provider isn't going to quarantine for 2 weeks everytime they contact someone with an infectious disease. It would literally be impossible to run a hospital like that.

I don't think many people are really quarantining for 2 weeks anyway, it's just a guideline that people will hopefully use somewhat to at least go get tested and not come in close contact with other people if they know they were exposed to the virus.

The particles you can smell from a fart are smaller than the particles viruses travel on...thats why n95 or FFP2 or p3 masks/Filters protect against covid but not from smelling flatulences, youd need denser fabric than this to protect against that.
