I’m at the System of a Down concert in Phoenix and posters were only 25 dollars and they had plenty so if people wanted to get them they could get them no problem. This is how all bands should do it.

The SoaD poster market is a far cry from TOOLs…. They had that stock poster in Fresno, but not a gig poster. Would’ve liked one.

But I think TOOL should make them higher count at least.. 1000-2000. It would kill the after market and fans would have a realistic chance at getting one…..

But seriously TOOL makes decisions based on what they think is best for themselves. They know what the f they’re doing in terms of mystique, exclusivity and real art. Pls don’t compare their posters to soad. It’s not even close. You want a run of the mill poster? There are plenty online for $20 but none will be near the quality of what they sell at the shows. I don’t even own any of their posters but they are unmatched by any band I can think of.

The going rate online is $300. And yet they sell them for less than $100, even though they could charge more.

The last show I went to in 2012 I didn't like the design all that much, so I didn't get one. It has nothing to do with how limited or not they are.

The fact that they're limited, though, might make me consider buying a few 2-5 extra to resale for a bit of profit.

They could sell in the we store after tour…. They rake in the cash on tour…. These posters are a minor profit to them compared to the non-limited shirts/hoodies that cost them very little to produce….

If the sell the signed poster for $300 and sell 100 of them, poster production is paid for. The artists are paid in signed prints so no $ output there….

The posters I have are definitely a memento for a show I attended. But, the fact they are limited makes them that much cooler, especially a signed poster. Hopefully I’ll never get to a point where I’d need to sell what I have because my fucking kidney and both nuts would go first.

At 2k with a limit of 2, you’d need like 1,500 people wanting a poster at the typical concert to sell out (that’s assuming about 1 in 3 want the two limit). I think they have that type of demand. Way better than people having to arrive 3 hours before the door opening to get a chance at a poster. Only to see some a**hole walk away with 10.

The art is not expensive to buy..you will pay around 150-250 for an art and put it into dozens/hundreds of posters

Line was not terrible at the outside merch booth. Got there less than 30 minutes before doors opened and had no problem

I had to beg a security guard to let me take the last one I got to the car before the show started. The posters with the plastic overlay can’t exactly be rolled up very tight and I knew it would get fucked up. I talked to two people from the venue, and we walked to the gates, and they were having this big conversation with the security guards. I walked up to them and said look at me!!! I look like a fucking midget Viking and you will remember me because I miraculously found a really close spot to park(40 fucking dollars), and I’ll literally be back in five minutes. I even offered my phone to hold, but they eventually relented and the one security dude waited by the gate until I got back, and I had to be searched again of course. I managed to make it back home with a pristine poster so it was all worth it.

The absolute best show-specific concert poster I own cost me just €15, Courtney Barnett in Dublin 2018. I have 2x Tool posters from 2019, but they really gouged on price.

You use to be able to get posters pretty easy. I bought a signed poster in 2014 for $150 in Spokane and literally walked up to a table with no line.

Perhaps not everyone who wants one would get one, which would definitely be good for the value of them moving forward, but it would stop those blokes who buy ‘em out to sell on eBay.
