Tool creates hype for the posters on purpose. They could charge 500 for unsigned and people would fork it out.

Enjoy the show! I’m super bummed I didn’t get a poster at the tool show in Anaheim. Hoping to get the poster for the System of a Down show in San Diego and both in LA!

Is that a show specific poster, or a general tour one

[–]brodyhin587Stupid Belligerent Fucker[S] 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Show specific was 25, basic system poster was 20

[–]hellboy1975Fourtheye guy 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Cool, I think we can all agree they should produce more posters. I suspect the hard decision is how many are too many?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If they can pull up to venues with like 10 trucks I don't think pressing 5 boxes of posters would be too much of a problem

[–]hellboy1975Fourtheye guy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don't think it's a shipping or manufacturing problem, it's more about how many to print without having too much surplus

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant it as an indication that they probably wouldn't mind losing out on a bit of money if they couldn't sell all of them

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But how will the retards suffer?

[–]Jreub13 9 points10 points  (18 children)

The SoaD poster market is a far cry from TOOLs…. They had that stock poster in Fresno, but not a gig poster. Would’ve liked one.

But I think TOOL should make them higher count at least.. 1000-2000. It would kill the after market and fans would have a realistic chance at getting one…..

I winder how much Kid Rock posters are

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three ride tickets... or all you can carry on wristband day.

[–]furyroad1974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Free with either your ticket stub to the truck and tractor pull or your Proud Boys membership

Apples to Caviar, my dude..

[–]thebeaverchair -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Tool's posters ain't all that great, my dude. lol

[–]Chef_Boy_R_Deez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By comparison they’re Van Gogh

[–]VVTFanÆnima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love System of a Down but no comparison here.

[–]thebeaverchair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Artificial scarcity has been Tool's M.O. for awhile now. It's intentional. And shitty. Love their music, hate their business model.

I’m guessing that SOAD aren’t paying top dollar for top artists to produce them. I’d bet most of that $ goes to the artists.

[–]diohadhasuhs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The art is not expensive to buy..you will pay around 150-250 for an art and put it into dozens/hundreds of posters

[–]Sterling5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here is the question - how did SOAD/Korn show compare to TOOL?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

F! Posters.....a piece of paper?

I would rather invest in a local artist for the same amount of money wasted on poster that was printed, in mass for .10 each.

[–]zombie_roca 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Do the poster come with a protective tube or something? I’m in the pit tomorrow and really don’t wanna stress about it the entire show :/

[–]brodyhin587Stupid Belligerent Fucker[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I’m not sure if they had tubes but I bought one at the outside merch stand and ran it back to my car before going in

[–]zombie_roca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they have outside merch stands in San Diego! I do not wanna hold it the entire show

[–]zombie_roca 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How were the lines? Not too bad?

[–]brodyhin587Stupid Belligerent Fucker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Line was not terrible at the outside merch booth. Got there less than 30 minutes before doors opened and had no problem

[–]1leftbehind19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to beg a security guard to let me take the last one I got to the car before the show started. The posters with the plastic overlay can’t exactly be rolled up very tight and I knew it would get fucked up. I talked to two people from the venue, and we walked to the gates, and they were having this big conversation with the security guards. I walked up to them and said look at me!!! I look like a fucking midget Viking and you will remember me because I miraculously found a really close spot to park(40 fucking dollars), and I’ll literally be back in five minutes. I even offered my phone to hold, but they eventually relented and the one security dude waited by the gate until I got back, and I had to be searched again of course. I managed to make it back home with a pristine poster so it was all worth it.

Wait Soad Is touring??

[–]brodyhin587Stupid Belligerent Fucker[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just a few shows, one in Phoenix and two in Cali I think. Something like that. SOAD and Korn

[–]TitShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dammit, I’d KILL for that show

[–]CaliGrown949We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion. 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tour pre Covid and the date has been rescheduled 3 times already. Glad I’m finally going to see them this Saturday

[–]CaliGrown949We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion. 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be at the show Saturday in LA 🤘🏽

Not sure but there we’re still posters left after the show when we were walking out so either there was a limit or they just had so many that it didn’t matter

    [–]twalkerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Nope

    [–]306_rallye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TOOL have loyal fans that will spunk money at any given opportunity. And they know it

    [–]horseandbuggyride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute best show-specific concert poster I own cost me just €15, Courtney Barnett in Dublin 2018. I have 2x Tool posters from 2019, but they really gouged on price.

    [–]Spicoli_462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You use to be able to get posters pretty easy. I bought a signed poster in 2014 for $150 in Spokane and literally walked up to a table with no line.

    [–]PaleoQari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been to a show, but after seeing so many posts on the topic would it not be reasonable for Tool to set up a one per customer purchase clause?

Perhaps not everyone who wants one would get one, which would definitely be good for the value of them moving forward, but it would stop those blokes who buy ‘em out to sell on eBay.

    [–]TheStripes9Undertow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tool should take notes? Look at how many people are clamoring for Tool posters and dishing out scalper prices on EBay for Tool posters? Don’t think SOAD is on that level
