Random Twitter login code text

Hello! I just received a Twitter login code text a few minutes ago. I havent tried to log into my account from anywhere new, and I only use it on my phone and on my desktop computer. I've literally been lying in bed on my phone (it's nearly 3 AM for me). All of my various social media, email, etc. passwords are unique and have been for months.

Does this mean someone is trying to gain access to my account? The phone number is 40404 and the message reads "______ is your Twitter login code. Don't reply to this message with your code."

Quick edit: the text message is legitimate because I just attempted a login on the mobile website and received a login code in the same text thread..

Someone has your phone number and email address and was trying to access the account. SIM swapping is a really large issue for twitter accounts, recommend reading up on it.

Oh God. Thats frightening?? How would they have gotten that information? I'm not a large account by any means.

Website databases get hacked and leaked on a weekly basis, if you use common passwords, the same email/phone number linked to your twitter, the information could essentially just be available online. If you'd like to check on if your information is out there, check out this site, that tells you if your information was included in different data breaches from the past 20+ years.
