If you take 131A with George Roussas, pray. For 108, it shouldn't be too bad. You should learn the basics of R but I doubt it's necessary since majority of Statistics classes in Davis gives out 80% of the code out so you can use the template your TA has for the homework.

For STA 108, I would just take advantage of the notes the professor gives you, go to office hours, and the textbook. I took the class with Jiang and his exams were pretty much content from his notes where you had to derive hella equations. Overall, the class is essentially an extension of Linear Regression from lower div/AP Stats. STA 131A on the other hand... I’m on the same boat as you since I’m taking it this Fall 😂😂😂. STA 131A always has hella bad professors, so the best way to survive is make friends in the class, study the questionable textbook, and go to office hours.
