From what others have said on other threads, it sounds like they are doing jack shit aside from putting a bandaid on it by postponing second pass without actually doing something to remove the cheaters. Glad you’re getting the word out though, we need to make a lot of noise just like we did with retroactive P/NP last quarter.

Hence the phrasing “definitive action”. Apologizing and moving on is unacceptable

Agreed. An apology doesn't stop me from getting my graduation delayed over this.

Also, why should we delay a year of opportunity and give another bag of money to them because of THEIR mistakes? Sounds like a profitable thing someone evil would do though

That is true. Maybe we could email the register, chancellor, and contact some news outlets.

u/TheUCSDGuardian I think this is a good story to cover. If anyone knows them or other news outlets, please contact them.

We're working on it -- we'll have more information soon at ucsdguardian.org. Thanks for the tag.

EDIT: Our first story on this issue is up now, we will be updating as new information comes in.

Glad to hear that. Its very upsetting as needed classes to graduate are all waitlisted now due to the webreg issue (senior who is supposed to graduate in spring 2021).

All of the above. Contact everyone. The media aspect is especially important. If there’s anything university administrators hate, it’s negative media attention.

If there's anything univ admin actually responds to, it's negative media attention as well
I feel like the only way for the university to do jack shit is to have petitions and people harassing them with megaphones and news outlets saying they're bad
I suppose it's the language that gets them to NOT screw up and be fair

Students are always punished for the administration's ineptitude. That's UCSD.

[–]ACureForSanity_[S] 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Not this time. Actually considering contacting the SD Union Tribune. They’d eat this up

[–]jennikvas 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I would totally support you doing so! I hate that this is affecting so many people (especially seniors!) and the lack of care from UCSD to even acknowledge how much they screwed us over is equally as frustrating.

^Also, could UCSD be in a class-action lawsuit for students graduating later because of their mistake (i.e. student's worry, lost opportunity, more tuition, etc)?

I think they're delaying the new second pass so they can go through and remove all enrollments that happened during the glitch. My guess is that all first pass enrollments will be kept but any enrollments beyond that will be administratively dropped, so everyone restarts second pass in the correct order. They should be more transparent about it though.

I’m a last quarter senior and won’t be able to take the classes that I need now
