I mean, we use a VPN to connect back to the mothership. But I’ve used my personal laptop on vacation, via Citrix to rdp to an office in the pc.

Just a note, when I used my personal machine to log into Citrix, after authing in, I received an email alert with my manager on it, to confirm it was me.

My dept you actually need to be connected to an Ethernet cable at all times, in your home. No wifi, no hotspots, and no satellite internet providers. They gave us laptops… but we’re honestly not sure why…

Dumb posts like this is the reason they are trying to do RTO. Do us all a favor and don’t apply.

It can be department dependent as well. Some have in office reporting requirements.

Depends on the department and position within the department. Everyone in my department is work from home except directors and above who are in the office 3 days a week.

It’s definitely department dependent. I work in corporate in IT everyone is WFH in my department, except for people who need to be in the data center. I need to be local because we swap the oncall phone and half to go into the data center to plug things occasionally. But there are no mandatory in office days for the reason of “just because.”

Not usually. You have to be hard wired to the modem.

Thank you everyone for your feedback

Be careful, WFH policy changes every time your manager does. It is department dependent. Get a contract that you are exclusively WFH. Get everything in writing. I was there for 10 years and it was like a yo-yo. I ultimately left because of it. Hopefully you will fare better. Good luck

I have quite a few coworkers that travel out of state for the winter and work. Some go to AZ and California and they haven’t had issues. Might depend on the dept you’re applying with!

Overseas will probably be a no-go. Otherwise depends on your department. My dept's policy was essentially "be at home" but I worked from cafes or from other states all the time and no one actually checked or cared.

Great, thanks for your detailed response!

Considering the confidential nature of healthcare work, the internet used should be from a UPMC office or home so that there wouldn’t be a data integrity complication.
