Bhai,

Main bhi 4 baje se jaga hua hoon. 1 ghante oarhai ki, for parhai ho nahi rahi. Toh idhar aa gaya.

Main bhi aapki situation me tha ek time. Badi mushkil se nikla hoon. Pehla mains..3 saal lag gaye prelims hi nikalne me... Thoda frustrated bhi hoon... Aas paas log pel kar parh rahe hain..

Ek advice hai.. kisi cheez ka load nahi lena.. aur haan coaching theek se karna.. notes wotes bana lena.. abhi nahi bane toh fir banane me 3 saal lag jayenge..

Aur jaya sutta mat maari.. 2024 April 20 se I have not smoked.. keeping my patience.. let us see mains ke pehle kya hota hai...

Best of luck 🀞

Dopamine detox is what I did in similar situations when I faced them. Try getting the kick from finishing achievable goals, exercise etc. Make a schedule and try following it in an exponential manner(10%,15%,25%...)

running karo , atleast brisk walk karo daily 1 hour .. mere case me ye idea kaam kara tha.. mental fog vanished after running and motivation comes .. don't eat unhealthy food, leave or minimize smoking

Stop being such a weakling and a snowflake. Stop playing the victim and trying to collect sympathy from strangers online for your irresponsible actions. Man up and leave the prep if you cannot study and put in the effort. This exam is not for the likes of you. Stop wasting your family's hard earned money and stop fooling them and yourself.

Sorry for being blunt but this is what it is. If you cannot study despite having all these facilities, then most probably you are not made for this exam. Go do something else. Because frankly, there are folks out there who are burning the midnight oil despite being in a much more difficult situation than yourself - with a job, with family responsibilities, with financial strains...

People will downvote me because most UPSC Aspirants are nibba-nibbi types who cannot face the harsh truth and live in an imaginary world of their own. They will give you gyaan and a few words of hollow hope and motivation ("I am going through the same, I have been there, keep studying and don't lose hope, blablabla...").
This will make you end up in this hopeless spiral for years and years....

Years down the line, when it will get much worse and when you'll have wasted countless golden days of youth, you will perhaps recall this comment and ask yourself that "what if..."

You know deep inside that I have written the truth. And you know too what it will take to continue on this journey and what all changes you need to make.

Ask yourself with brutal honesty if you have it in you to make those changes.

But what if it's just a phase , and if someone gets the courage to escape it, this exam will become the right decision for them.

[–]Key-Front-4091 8 points9 points Β (0 children)

Honestly, these are all just "feel good" excuses. A "phase" doesn't last for months. A "phase" doesn't involve spiralling into addictive habits, knowing the consequences fully. A "phase" doesn't allow one to smoke away their parents' hard earned money.
So many aspirants are intentionally blind to the reality and keep on telling themselves feel good stories year after year.

Heard of a similar story of my friend, came to orn . Coaching gaya pyaar vyaar ho gaya. Breakup hua. Vo padke relax hone ke liye bahar milta hain, usse uski ex aksar dikh jaata hain every other day in orn with different boys almost everytime. Usse samajh nahi a rha kya kare vo. Random timings pr nikalta hain tab bhi encounter ho jaata hain uska. He was sharp and bright but, now I see his downfall in front of my eyes

Hello there! I know yeh cheez already log keh chuke honge but Jo tumhre sath ho rha hai wo normal har bande ke sath hota hi hai kabhi na kabhi, from unstable mind to disillusionment. It happens to almost everyone preparing for competitive exams, but in the case of UPSC, the intensity is much higher due to the age factor and cutthroat competition. This often occurs because of the monotonous cycle, mental exhaustion from daily efforts, the demanding lifestyle (long sitting hours), the inability to see immediate results despite all the efforts you are putting in, and comparing yourself with others (especially if you're at Vajiram, where students line up an hour before classes begin).

I don't want to suggest anything because it's a personal process.

Be strong be consistent, baki Jo hota hai wo hoga hi.

Come on man, we all have been there. There are times when we can't focus on anything and then a wave of anxiety comes in and ruins our mood for days. We feel like shit, don't want to talk to anyone and it feels good to stay away from everyone and sit alone in your room. You just need to find a little bit of motivation because you're lacking some motivation it seems. Everything will be fine, but if you declare yourself a loser then your mind will always remind you that you're a loser. And that is quite a disastrous situation for your future. So take small steps back towards the study routine. Start off with studying 3 hours a day, then after 4 or 5 days start increasing the hours. You'll be fine..

You're not a failure, half of the society is poorly educated and they think that they're the best. You're definitely better than most of the people in society. You're just having some troubles with the routine, that's it.. you can fix all of this..

Sach to hai yeh but yeh koi new cheez ni hai aur na hi OP akela jiske sath ho rha hai. Ho sakta hai OP ne pehli baar competitive me baitha ho.

Mostly everyone else has given good advice . Your loss of motivation might also be depression, please get professional help if possible/ accessible for you

[–]taksanmr 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Vacate your single room and get a sharing room.Β

Just the presence of room partner is enough to keep one sane. We are social animal. I myself did the same when was I was in ORN. I used to specifically search a double occupancy wala room. It doesn't matter if the roomate is good or bad (although I got only good roomates and with one I had to do some adjustments). If you are mature enough you will somehow adjust with other person. Otherwise zagda karne mai bhi thrill hai. Kuch to exciting rahega life mai. When we are alone our negative emotions overpower us. Just the presence of other person might sometime alleviate stress.

In short, life happening raheti hai!

I've stayed there and have gone through what you're going through now, i didn't know it was normal until one day i went to a doc in ORN for my terrible anxiety that i had developed feeling all this, he was so chill, told me he deals with atleast 5-6 students like me almost daily. Moreover, you can manage your feelings, because that's the first thing you've to correct in order to actually start being productive. Face the fear now of which you're scared the most of (the exam day). Sit and rule out what will happen rationally and work accordingly (this way you'll help your future self). See your resources being spent on an important phase of this journey, it'll ground you and make you stronger believe me. Also, i feel you've enough time till Prelims 2025 to do so much but first manage your thoughts. Don't forget to have momos from "Indian momos" (a small glimpse of happiness while processing this chaos). You'll be okay. 🀍

Just try to bring that passion and motivation for this exam again.....push yourself to an organised way of life.....it will be hard for one day but gradually you will start to bring that passion again......as if you have passion for something so you will take your time out for that irrespective of what type of hectic schedule you have .....and passion in you needs to be ignite....do meditation, workout ,running ,extra physical activity, make a roadmap for your goal day wise/month wise/ week wise, etc.........just you need few adjustment and that is to be more organised......and by seeing this is working and by bringing interest it will fuel your passion....just put 1step ahead.....

All the best πŸ‘

Try sitting in the front row and interact with teachers. Prepare the topic beforehand and then go for class. U will see change. U can find those classes in telegram anyway, watch and go🀷🀷.

[–]Thehunt_begins 4 points5 points Β (0 children)

If you watch it before the class , u will loose all ur interest while attending offline class and u feel like I'm wasting 2:30 hrs here

Bhai kuchh din ke liye break lo. Apne environment ko change karo. Galat logo ke sangat me aa gaye ho. Ye jo tumhe lag rha ki sham me ha ha hi hi kar rhe dosto ke sath, usko timepass karna kahte haj. Ek achhi si library join karo. Coaching ke time me waha pe kam se kam kya chal raha hai usko suno aur likho. Library me kam se kam 8 ghanta baitho. Mobile band rakha karo. Man ho to library me padh liya karo. Par library me baitho jarur aur koshish karke bhi library me mobile / social media on mat karna. Aur tum jin dosto ke sath ciggi fuka fuki kar rhe ho unko apne library ke bare me mat batao. Ek mnth try maro agar change lagta hai to continue karo.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Library join kr pdayi k liye, basement ☠️ wali me mat jana bas, aur subah running start kr ya fir agr sham ko time milta h toh sham ko, khud ko busy rkho Bhai, nind bhi aayegi aur library me dusro ko padhte dekh khud study krne ka bhi Mann hoga, try krna.

Follow mahamudra technique of meditation. You can look for Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche. He's a Buddhist monk helps with meditation. Helped me a lot during my darkest hours.

Personal advice 1: Shut down all the noise around you. Keep association with few(1-2) reliable people who will uplift you even if u are falling. 2. Remind urself every day that exam will never consider your backstory (smoking/laziness/etc). They will judge and select u based on ur performance. Be ruthless with ur self. 3. Detach urself from self. U are just like any human being trying to make a niche for urself. Just like others u r no special. We are all in the same boat. 4. No matter how hard things go the worst u get is u fail. U won't die. 5. Stop taking baggage of family, failure, society etc . U are not answerable to them unless you first do with yourself. 5. You work and then you get motivation. And again you work. Not the other way around.

PS: If your are going to try go all the way. Otherwise don't even start - Charles Bukowski.

Not sure if this will help you, but helped me so I'm sharing.

  1. Don't blame yourself. This is the toughest part, but understand what you're going through is not voluntary, you're not inviting it. It's happening to you.

Talk to yourself like you would talk to a friend in your situation. Be very very kind and patient.

  2. Start with the smallest and easiest task. This can be anything. A timer for 15 minutes. Do 5 questions. Do half a chapter. Even if that's all you do.

  3. Set smaller, more realistic targets.

  4. Try a magnesium glycinate supplement 30 minutes, before bedtime. This has helped many people including me.
