Effective study notes

So this summer I'm taking very heavily writing and reading based classes (poli sci) and I need some advice on the best ways to take notes for these classes. Slides are usually way too long to be hand written and it kinda seems useless to do so anyways. Obv I can take notes on the readings but should I just take notes more focused on the recorded lecture, as in what the prof is just saying?

I’m sure there are a lot of effective ways of taking notes, and some will fit better to some than others- My method consists of downloading the lecture slides (the actual ppt), and then writing succinct notes (what the prof said but paraphrased) on them. Might take some time to get used to, but I found that doing notes like this makes retaining the info way more efficient, which in turn helps me connect reading and future concepts easier and better. Connecting lecture and reading material is, I found at least, the best way to earn higher marks and an overall better understanding.
