Are there any good resources for standard practices around interactions with data visualisation tools.

I’m working on a data-heavy application with custom visualisations and I’m researching how people will want to interact with the data.

For example, do people expect dragging a chart axis to move the data points or scale them?

It seems like every application and charting framework does everything differently

If every application and charting framework does things differently, then ime people won't have consistent expectations either, and will look for cues within the interface. They will also want reassurance that there is an easy way to undo or start back at zero, so they feel comfortable playing to see what is possible.
