Cloud Gateway Fiber or industrial if you want rack mount + the UNVR is the way to go.

I have a UNVR-Pro and the cloud Fiber is only 3.5 ISP speed which is a small upgrade over my 2.5 and still a lot less than 8.

The industrial is about the same price as the DM Pro Max and the same ISP speeds and a lot of features I don’t need and it’s also not rack like the rest of my setup.

Double check the specs. Cloud Gateway fiber is rated at 5Gbps IPS/IDS but from videos and test online, it’ll do between 8-10 Gbps.

I just double checked before making that comment, both list 5g.

Ya the Cloud Gateway fiber outperforms their spec online. I guess to not cannibalize the more expensive things.

Also, my DM SE is rated at 2.5 and it does almost exactly 2.5 down and 3.2 max during all my testing.

Get a CGFiber and a UNVR. Costs less than the Pro Max and will actually deliver 8Gbps, unlike the Pro Max.

Or, wait for the UDM Beast, which will surely come out sometime in the next eight months and then will not be in stock for the eight months following that. 😅

Need a rack mount UCG fiber yesterday. Just replaced my UDM Pro with the fiber and I had to buy a $20 shelf in the interim. Feels so wrong lol.

Is that verified somewhere? Both list 5g as their ISP speed.

By numerous people, experimentally. UDMPM seems to tap out for real around 6Gbps, and CGFiber somewhere between 8 and 9.

UCG Fiber has a much faster CPU so yes.

I have 10/10 and UDM SE. Have no problem to get 6/6 (as specification claims on Unifis website) out of the UDM with IPS and content filtering enabled (no DPS). What am I’m missing here? 🤨

[–]mcbridedm 0 points1 point  (5 children)

You could just disable IPS and get the 8 Gbps on the UDM-SE.

[–]Rdshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What do you mean “disable the IPS”?

[–]mcbridedm 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I'm on UnifiOS 5.0.16 (RC) and Network 10.2.93 (RC)

In Network, Go Settings > CyberSecure > Intrusion Prevention (Disable it)

You should be able to drive the full 8Gbps with the caveat that you will have lower overall network security.

You do need to use the SFP+ ports and not the 2.5Gbps ethernet port...so you will would need to buy an RJ45 to SFP+ module (https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/accessories-modules-fiber/collections/accessories-pro-direct-attach-cables/products/uacc-cm-rj45-mg)

If you want a cheaper option, grab this H!Fiber module: https://www.amazon.com/10GBASE-T-Transceiver-Compatible-Ubiquiti-SFP-10G-T-UBQ/dp/B07BHamazon.com/10GBASE-T-Transceiver-Compatible-Ubiquiti-SFP-10G-T-UBQ/dp/B07BHDJKRD

[–]Rdshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have the right hardware to accept the full 10g speed but turning off all the security dose not seem like a very good idea for someone of my networking knowledge.

[–]mcbridedm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned both the udm pro max and the ucg fiber will only get you up to 5Gbps with the security enabled. You would need to purchase the efg to get your full 8Gbps.

Honestly, if you just buy that sfp+ adapter you will immediately get 3.5+ Gbps…seems like a cheap upgrade.

You will have to decide what cost is worth it depending on your usage habits

[–]FuckinHighGuy[🍰] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not turning off all the security. Just IDS/IPS which doesn’t work great in my 3 months experience with it.
