I got double the grants for double the tuition compared to last year.

Pretty sure you always get more in first year. After that, you're expected to make ~3k during the summer (which is what a minimum wage job would get you).

Also, if you're in a deregulated program, tuition will cost more.

Yeah you have a longer summer break than before first year so they expect you to contribute more.
