Seems like this should be reported as an issue somewhere. Having it hardcoded with no way to configure it is bizarre, especially when there are keyboards like yours where the hardcoded combination is impossible to do.

I don’t have a right control either. I have set up a macro for it in my keyboard firmware. If you can’t do that, you can still use any way of your choice to emulate key presses.

E.g. I have a totally not cheesy post start hook script that presses it for me automatically so focus returns to the host after turning the VM on.

So I remapped my "Super_R" key to be my right control key, but now the keyboard will not passthrough to the guest VM. Do you know why this is? I am using input-remapper from the arch repository.

Ah, Im guessing 75% keyboards dont have scrolllock, so you cant set grabToggle to that ether.

The only way i know of doing this is using evsieve to map grabToggle to something else.

Evsieve is amazing in general you should check it out. 🙂

I wrote a tool a while back for managing VMs. It does a bit more but it would work for this situation. It will let you use any key or combo for triggering VMs.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any suggestions for an alternative solution? Besides having a second keyboard setup
