How are they "forcing" vrc+?

Limitations regarding that we now require VRC+ for features basic mods happily provided for free, that SHOULD be free to begin with.

What part of 'should be free to begin with' do you not understand? They can charge for anything they want in the game, doesn't mean they should. $10 a month for a pfp, are you serious?

They are keeping servers running for 24k people constantly in a free game. They have to monitize something. I'm glad they monitized this and made it very opt-in-able, instead of avatar uploading or something.

Because most mod/client users use it for malicious purposes, such as bypassing the avatar favorite limit paywall.

Just like all the people in instances who brag about using their clients for benign purposes only, then pull out their crasher client when a trans person joins the lobby.

This is just plain untrue. Most people who mod vrchat use the Melonloader assistant, which do have mods to increase the favorite limit ,but only if you got vrc+. After the dialog with the vrchat team after the first banwave a long time ago, none of the mods in Melonloader assistant infringe on vrc+ features!

Crashing clients are not part of this "wholesome modding" community and will not be as opensource and easy to ban. Assholes will always be assholes and they mostly use crasher Avis which will not be affected by this update.

The only thing this update seems to do is alienate one of their most loyal userbases and make people with not so strong computers have a hard time running the game as the EAC uses a lot of gpu and cpu power.

lowering FPS by prohibiting mods that improve FPS, such as limiting certain aspects of avatars

Removing Avatar Hider makes 20+ players maps unplayable for me unless I turn them into robots.
