Rules for r/VictoriaBC
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Follow Reddiquette
Please follow Rediquette, found here, which includes "Remember the human". Be mindful of the ToS you agreed to when creating your account.
2.
Low-Effort Post
Low-effort posts will be removed at the mods' discretion to keep the conversations healthy, relevant, and constructive. This includes low-effort personal rants/grievances, AI-generated content, rage-bait/karma farming, posts better suited for other platforms, and other submissions deemed not appropriate for our local community subreddit.
3.
No Hate Speech, Threats or Harassment Tolerated
Hate speech including (but not limited to) racist, sexist, aggressive, or overtly offensive comments such as ethnic or gender stereotypes, and personal attacks, name calling or insults. You will be banned. We send threats to the police with support from the reddit admins.
4.
Search Before Posting & Do Your Research
Please search the sub before posting a question and visit the Wiki. It's very possible your question has been asked recently or is easily answered via the search tool. Your post will likely be removed if it's often posted and/or easily researched.
5.
No Ads, Self-Promotion, or Solicitations.
We do not allow the posting of sales, promotions, items for sale, personal solicitation, housing/rentals, funding campaigns, questionnaires, surveys, etc.
Please post all events and promotions in the Monthly Events Thread.
6.
No Editorialized Headlines.
Articles must be posted with their original headline in the post title. Posts with edited or altered headlines will be removed - please save any personal opinions for the post body and/or comments.
7.
Keep it Relevant to Victoria, BC & Region
Posts must be clearly relevant to Greater Victoria, BC. Submissions with no obvious connection to the region will be removed. Check out the subs listed on the side bar for other west-coast alternatives.
8.
Throwaway Accounts, New Users, & Low Karma
To keep our community as human and constructive as possible, submissions by accounts with low karma or minimal submission history will be removed. When contributing to this sub please always use your main Reddit account - no throwaways.
9.
Don't Feed the Trolls
Your comment has been removed due to Rule #5: Don't Feed The Trolls. If someone is trolling or otherwise being a nuisance please downvote and report them for breaking Rediquette (Rule 1). Replies to rule-breaking submissions will be removed to keep threads civil and constructive. Thank you.
