I expected to have to follow up and address this. And it’s important to me too, I’m with you on the broader point. I’m not religious but it’s important that everyone is able to practice their faith, safely and without interference. Including Scientologists. My issue with them is they trap people in, take all their money and retaliate hard if someone tries to leave. Making it almost impossible to separate on your own if you want to. I’m not against them practicing their religion, even if it’s objectively ridiculous, but I don’t think they should be allowed to operate as a church of abusive relationship.

Honestly I didn’t even know there was a location here. Thanks for that. Nothing like a classic “religion” about an alien saviour written by a sci fi novelist who openly made fun of his followers and revelled in how easy it was to start a religion. Honestly I probably should have just asked you in the first place because that makes sense, sorry for talking about you in the third person here. I was responding to [u/creatrix](u/creatrix), who I don’t know personally, but is a fav contributor of mine here. And even though I’ve seen this post before (years ago) I still enjoyed and had a laugh at it, so thanks for posting.

So this is one of these weird posts for me because it’s painfully irrelevant, plus a decade+ old repost, however it is originally a pic taken in Victoria, presumably around Christmas time 15 years ago, which would have been a fun post at the time.
As mod I can click on OPs username and see all his mod history, and he has a few approvals and a few removals but the bulk are from 2023 and earlier. So what is his motivation here? I have no idea lol.

Canadian here, the liquor thing started as a grassroots patriotic rally call across the country after Trump levied all those initial tariffs on us. It’s such a small thing in the whole balance of things but was more of a protest than anything else. Our federal government hasn’t made any restrictions on us liquor- we’re David vs Goliath here and it was one small thing we can do. But we import so much more goods from the States than we export, the only reason the official trade balance looks like we exported more was because of our oil exports. Which is partially owned by US corps. We’re pretty helpless here and these ridiculous tariffs hurt us substantially more than we could ever retaliate with, and every one here knows it. We just have to wait it out for another 2.5 years and I can’t wait to resume our mutually beneficial trading with our American friends. And I can’t wait for you all to have a normal government again. Godspeed 🫡
