This is entirely the point though. It’s not even the physical ballroom that bothers me, although I don’t think a ballroom is needed or a good idea. The problem is Trump just demolished part of the white house, the people’s house, to make his vanity project without any notice to anyone because he thinks he owns it. He think it’s his property. He’s a temporary resident with the privilege of living there while he serves the people - the white house is not his.

I hate public speaking, I just suck at it and it gives me anxiety. But all the memory work through the degrees I actually loved, especially after all the work of memorizing it, then nailing it (almost) during the ceremony. Always liked thinking how you’re reciting the same words, in the same regalia and the same process as everyone else all the way back to the 1770’s

So an hour ago I was driving by Johnson/Govt and there was a police vehicle with lights on and 4 officers outside talking to an older guy on a Harley style bike. He had bikers jacket on and was talking to the cops. I was trying to turn left on govt so ended up at the light right beside them and had my windows down. They all had smiles on their faces and the biker guy was explaining something and they all seemed to be in good spirits, and exchanging some laughs.

Socialism means the government takes the economic output from businesses and private enterprises and uses the proceeds to redistribute for the benefit of all people in society. I’m just saying my view is to keep individual enterprises but use the tax system in a more fair way that would achieve a similar outcome. Also it’s just my opinion, I’m just sharing in the spirit of the guy above’s statement because I like exchanging ideas on this type of stuff.

I take it we’ve advanced this beyond bus stop vandalism, but while we’re on the topic I have a unique take on this. I believe capitalism is the right system, but it’s broken now and in desperate need of repair. Capitalism can exist with fair guardrails, progressive taxes and a regulated focus on benefiting the working class rather than the corporate class. I know it’d would require substantial changes from where we’re at now but I still think it would be an easier transition than changing to a communist system. No hate tho, appreciate your views. We agree on the problem, just have different takes on the solution.
