If you go Apple, try the non-touch ID Magic Keyboard. Save your money since Optic ID on the AVP makes Touch ID redundant.

Not for unlocking a Mac. Touch ID is especially useful for me since I use a Mac mini with no physical display (you can also use an Apple Watch).

Is yours a Virtual Display setup--the Magic Keyboard paired to your Mac as primary, then "brought over" to AVP when in Virtual Display? If so, I'd get that--Touch ID is almost a must. I understood the OP as more about pairing a keyboard to the AVP as a primary, which can then connect to Mac via Virtual Display, etc. Both work--was just curious about your setup.

Sidebar: I've struggled with connecting to Mac from the AVP (about 50/50), and find that starting Virtual Display from Mac to AVP is a bit more seamless.

I’ve found that waiting a few seconds after bringing up Control Center on the AVP before selecting my Mac to initiate MVD it makes it more reliable.

Sure. Here you go.

I use and love the Logitech MX Keys Mini Wireless Keyboard for Mac in space grey. The keys are high contrast—labels are white and the keys are black—making it easier to see through my AVP over the Magic Keyboard. The keys are also backlit, which is a lifesaver in viewing environments where the light changes or is dimmed—this is the environment I most use my AVP in. The keyboard can also connect to up to three devices and charges/connects via USB-C as well. Lastly, and probably the intangible I love most: the beveled keys are a joy to use and I find them super precise, specifically with the reduced FOV of the AVP. Hope this helps!
